Lakeshore Community Church is sending a team to go on a short-term missions trip to Fucecchio, Italy to serve at an English Sports Camp. This camp is put together by Albero Della Vita run by Licia and Gianni Saillen - Lakeshore supported missionaries. The camp will last one week from June 24 - 28. The main focus of the trip will be to provide English lessons through sports, music, games, and crafts to kids in 1^st through 8^th grade. The team from Lakeshore will be supporting the local Italians to help these kids understand the love of Jesus and the hope He gives to those who follow Him.   

Given the presence of the Roman Catholic Church in Italy, one would think that Italians are already familiar with the message of the Gospel. 80% of Italians consider themselves Christians. However, two-thirds do not go to church or follow the church’s teachings after age 12. Many have turned away from the church completely and chosen to follow other paths such as communism, witchcraft, new age religion, or Islam. Recent statistics show that only 1.1% of Italians live a life of personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are excited for the opportunity the team has to serve the kids that will attend the camp, most of whom are not Christians or come from Christian homes. By teaching the kids English, it opens doors for the team to show the kids the love of Jesus Christ, and it leads to building relationships with the parents too.
